Fillout Review 2026: What the Free Plan Covers, What It Costs, and Who Should Pay

For six weeks this autumn, every contact form on Blogging Titan sent its submissions into a mail function that did not work. We found it on 7 September 2026: WordPress’s wp_mail() was failing with “Could not instantiate mail function”, and it stayed broken until we connected an SMTP service on 22 October. Our audit request form, our guest-post form and our contact page all sent submissions through that one function, and none of them stored a copy. From the outside, nothing looked broken. Whatever was sent in those weeks may never have reached us.

That is the problem a hosted form builder solves, and it is why we read Fillout closely. Fillout stores responses in its own results view, so the answers do not depend on your website being able to send email. This review covers what the free plan really includes, what each paid plan adds, and where Fillout is the wrong choice.

The verdict

Fillout’s free plan is unusually complete: 1,000 responses a month, unlimited forms, unlimited seats, logic, scoring and Stripe payments with no Fillout fee on top. Pay when you need redirects, respondent emails or CAPTCHA (Starter, $19 a month) or want the branding gone (Pro, $49).

Free: 1,000 responses a month, unlimited forms and seats, Fillout branding.

Paid: Starter $19, Pro $49, Business $89 a month, or $15, $40 and $75 billed yearly.

Where we stand. Blogging Titan is a Fillout affiliate, so the Fillout links on this page may pay us. This is a research review: we read Fillout’s pricing page, its help centre and its comparison pages on 27 October 2026, and we have not yet run a live Blogging Titan form on it. When we move one of our own forms across, this page gets a dated update with what happened. Our Proof-of-Use Test explains why we say this up front.

What Fillout is

Fillout is a hosted form builder. You build a form in its editor, share a link or embed it on your site, and responses land in Fillout’s results view, where you can export them as CSV or PDF. It can also send them on: natively to tools such as Airtable, Google Sheets, Mailchimp and HubSpot, and to anything else through webhooks, Zapier or Make.

Fillout belongs to the same company as Zite, an AI app builder. Both sites carry the footer “© 2026 Restly, Inc.”, and Fillout’s pricing page describes Zite as “the platform behind Fillout”. The two are billed separately. Our Zite review covers the app side.

What the free plan includes

Read from Fillout’s pricing page on 27 October 2026, the free plan includes:

  • unlimited forms and unlimited seats, so a co-author or VA costs nothing extra
  • 1,000 responses a month
  • multi-page forms, conditional logic and answer piping
  • calculations and scoring, which is what quizzes run on
  • Stripe payments, with what Fillout’s payment help page calls “0% added fees, even on the free tier”
  • scheduling, PDF generation, file uploads up to 20 MB each
  • Airtable, Google Sheets and webhook integrations, CSV export and API access

The free plan leaves out CAPTCHA, login-protected forms, redirects after submission, custom endings, custom themes, logo upload and emails to the person who filled the form in. Fillout branding stays on every form.

One detail matters more than the headline number. Fillout’s help centre says that when an account goes over its monthly response limit, forms “still collect responses” and the count resets on the 1st. An account that stays over may have features limited or suspended, so the cap is real, but a busy week does not switch your form off mid-launch.

Try Fillout’s free plan and build one form before you decide anything else.

What each paid plan adds

PlanMonth to monthBilled yearlyResponses a monthWhat it adds
Free$0$01,000Core builder, logic, scoring, payments
Starter$19$15 ($180 a year)2,000Redirects, respondent emails, CAPTCHA, custom themes, login forms
Pro$49$40 ($480 a year)5,000No Fillout branding, custom CSS, custom share links
Business$89$75 ($900 a year)UnlimitedAnalytics, drop-off rates, partial submissions, custom domain

Fillout’s banner says annual billing saves 20 percent. Worked out from its own prices, the saving is 21.1 percent on Starter, 18.4 percent on Pro and 15.7 percent on Business. The full plan list, with every reading we take from now on, is on our Fillout pricing page.

What a blogger would use it for

Most blogs need four kinds of form. Fillout can build all four on the free plan, though a quiz with a different result page for each outcome needs Starter, because Fillout’s pricing page lists multiple and custom endings from Starter up:

  • Contact and enquiry forms, where stored responses are the whole point
  • Lead-magnet quizzes, using quiz mode and calculations. Our quiz walkthrough builds one step by step
  • Paid bookings and audits, using Stripe on the free plan
  • Guest-post and pitch intake, with file uploads and conditional questions

Getting subscribers into an email tool is the weak spot. Fillout lists native integrations for Mailchimp, ActiveCampaign, HubSpot, Brevo, Klaviyo and SendGrid. We found no native integration for Kit (formerly ConvertKit), beehiiv or MailerLite on its integrations page or in its help index, which matters because those are the tools most bloggers use. You would connect them through Zapier, Make or a webhook. Our Kit vs beehiiv comparison covers that choice.

Embedding it on WordPress

There is no Fillout WordPress plugin. Fillout’s help centre recommends pasting its embed code into a Custom HTML block, and it offers four embed styles: standard, popup, full screen and slider. Because the form is served from Fillout, it does not depend on your host’s mail setup, which is the failure that hit us.

Where Fillout falls short

  • The free plan carries branding, and Starter keeps a lighter version of it. Clean forms start at Pro, $49 a month.
  • No native Kit, beehiiv or MailerLite integration was listed when we read the pages.
  • Partial submissions, the half-finished answers that show where people drop out, are visible only on Business and above.
  • EU data hosting is only on the Team and Enterprise plans, and you have to ask support for it. We found no HIPAA statement.
  • Notification limits on new free accounts. Since 5 October 2026, new free accounts can only send notifications to members of their own organisation until the account is verified.

If 1,000 responses a month is too tight, Tally gives more free submissions under a fair-use policy. If you already pay for Typeform, our Fillout vs Typeform page shows the cost gap at each response level.

Who should pay for Fillout

Stay on Free if you run a blog with a contact form, a quiz or a booking form and fewer than 1,000 submissions a month. Move to Starter when you need to redirect people after they submit, for example to a thank-you page that fires a conversion. Pro is worth it once the form sits on a page you sell from and the Fillout badge looks out of place. Business makes sense for a site that runs paid campaigns and wants drop-off data.

If that describes your site, open a free Fillout account and rebuild your contact form first. It is the form that costs you most when it fails.
