Hostinger vs SiteGround: The Same $2.99, $540 Apart After Four Years (October 2026)

Hostinger Premium and SiteGround StartUp both advertise $2.99 a month. That is where the resemblance ends. Hostinger’s $2.99 requires 48 months paid up front. SiteGround’s covers 12 months, after which StartUp renews at $17.99 a month. We read both on 3 October 2026 and the logs behind them go back to 20 July 2026.

Our Bluehost alternatives page first put a number on it: four years on Hostinger Premium cost $540 less than four years on SiteGround StartUp. This page explains when that saving is real and when the cheaper day-one bill is the better choice.

The verdict

Hostinger is the cheaper host for anyone who stays past the first year. SiteGround is the safer buy if you might quit within twelve months, because it asks for $35.88 up front against Hostinger’s $143.52, and its prices held through every reading we took.

Hostinger: $143.52 up front for 48 months of Premium, then $10.99 a month. Three sites.

SiteGround: StartUp $2.99 for 12 months, then $17.99. 1 website, GrowBig $4.99 for unlimited.

The year-two step

SiteGround’s first year costs $35.88. Its second costs $215.88, paid when you renew. That renewal is the moment the comparison turns: your running total jumps to $251.76, already past the $143.52 that buys four full years on Hostinger.

Total paid by the end of Hostinger Premium SiteGround StartUp Gap
Year 1 $143.52 $35.88 SiteGround $107.64 cheaper
Year 2 $143.52 $251.76 Hostinger $108.24 cheaper
Year 3 $143.52 $467.64 Hostinger $324.12 cheaper
Year 4 $143.52 $683.52 Hostinger $540.00 cheaper

Those totals assume renewal at the published rate with no retention discount. Hosts sometimes offer one if you threaten to leave; we cannot price an offer that is not published.

There is one argument for SiteGround that the table does not show. In our log its three introductory prices held across every reading from 20 July to 3 October, while all three of Hostinger’s rose between July and September. A price that does not move is easier to plan around, even when it is higher.

Who each one is for

Pick Hostinger if this blog is a commitment and you can pay four years at once. Over four years it costs less than any other entry plan in our hosting logs. See Hostinger’s current offer before you commit.

Pick SiteGround if you are testing an idea and might stop within a year, or need staging, which arrives on GrowBig at $4.99. Today’s figures are on the SiteGround pricing page. If you outgrow shared hosting, our SiteGround vs Cloudways page covers the next step up.
